Dian Baker-Sellheim
Principal Accompanist
Dian Baker-Sellheim joined the Choir in August
of 2001 as the Choir’s principal accompanist. Under the auspices
of the U.S. State Department, Dr. Baker-Sellheim has toured as
an Artistic Ambassador since 1989, and performed with the late
cellist Roger
Drinkall in more than 900 concerts in 30 countries. Dr. Baker-Sellheim
has been awarded grants from the National Endowment for the Arts,
the
Rockefeller Foundation, the Pew Charitable Trusts, Arts International,
the Utah and the Florida Arts Councils, and the David M. Kennedy
Center for International Studies and Research.
She has recorded for Pyramid, Klavier, Sanctus,
Tantara, and Wilson Audiophile, and her recording of the D’Indy
Trio was selected by Fanfare magazine as one of the ‘Top
Ten Recordings of 1998.’ In 1999, Dr. Baker-Sellheim was
a staff pianist in Graz, Austria for AIMS (American Institute for
Musical Studies);
in 2000, she accepted an invitation to pursue post-graduate music
studies in Switzerland at the Zurich Conservatory. Dr. Baker-Sellheim
received the 1994 ‘Outstanding Woman of the Year’ award from
Brigham Young University, where she directed the Collaborative
Piano areas as a Senior Lecturer for 10 years.
Currently, Dr. Baker-Sellheim is on the music
faculty at Mesa Community College, and performs frequently as four-hand
duo
partner with pianist Eckart Sellheim.
