The Phoenix Boys Choir celebrates the 200th birthday of two of the most influential 19th Century Romantic opera composers. The music of Richard Wagner and Giuseppe Verdi has remained at the heart of operatic music. Known for writing libretto along with the music for his operas, German composer Wagner was said to have significant influence on literature, philosophy, film, theatre design, and popular music. With roots in popular culture and nearly 30 operas to his name, Italian composer Verdi remains a dominant figure in opera repertoire more than 110 years after his death. This year also marks the 100th birthday of English composer Benjamin Britten, a leading modern classical music and opera composer. The concert culminates in a performance of Franz Schubert's E Flat Major Mass accompanied by a 26-piece orchestra. Join us for this season's classical music treasure.
