March 20, 2022 | 3 PM Phoenix
Regarded as the highlight of the late romantic organ masses, the centerpiece of our Classics Concert program, Louis Vierne’s Messe Solennelle Op. 16 composed in 1899, has been described as an harmonically opulent feast featuring the angelic voices of the choir in conjunction with the colorful grandeur of the pipe organ. Last performed in Arizona more than a decade ago, our Tour Choir, Young Men’s Ensemble, & Masters Men’s Choir will transport you to the Cathedral of the Rive Gauche/the Church of Saint Sulpice in France with the performance of this masterwork. The choral repertoire on our third concert series of the season also includes secular works and additional French sacred titles composed by professors, colleagues, and contemporaries of Louis Vierne.
